Close, But No Cigar…

So, bad news first:

I did not get the CRM Technical Producer job at SmileDirectClub. It came as a complete shock to not only me, but my friends that work on the CRM Team, who served as my referral in the first place. In their email in which they informed me the team was “going in another direction”, they were incredibly brief and non descriptive. I chose to respond back, politely asking if they could expand on the reasoning behind their decision. I don’t necessarily feel like they owe me an explanation; I do not feel entitled in that way. I simply would like to know if there was anything on my part that made them think I wasn’t qualified to perform well under said role. If I knew this information, it would most certainly be helpful going forward.

Now, for the “good” news (if you could call it that). I remain positive going forward, because I still don’t have much of a choice in the matter. As I’ve said before, time spent self-loathing and feeling sorry for myself, is only time wasted on my part. Another piece of good news is that I have a potential job lead, with a Nashville-based company called Atiba. They provide custom software and consulting to several different kinds of businesses. If I could manage to score a job interview (and role) at the company, it would definitely check off several boxes in what I’m looking for in my next employer. First, and most importantly, it would be a JOB. But also, it would most likely mean working with state-of-the-art, contemporary programming practices and languages. I don’t mind working with legacy software, which uses code that may be outdated. However, being able to code using the most current technologies obviously allows me to stay ahead of the curve.

I will continue to update here as often as possible, with the most recent goings-on with the job hunt. I’m also planning on attempting writing more code for my personal projects, watching some more Udemy videos, and attending some meetups here in Nashville.

Until next time…

It’s The Final Countdown!

Guess what folks? After approximately 5 weeks of hard work and determination, I am now officially closer than I have ever been to closing in on a job offer! Tomorrow morning, I am set to have a final face-to-face interview with a panel of my would-be/soon-to-be workmates, for the role of CRM Technical Producer at SmileDirectClub. I am incredibly hopeful about this prospect, and not just because I am possibly delusional. I really do feel like I am qualified for this position, and could do it well, while having a good time in the process.

I will definitely keep you all updated with the details and goings-on of my near future!
